From a campsite internship to leading two hotel reception teams – Charles's journey at Accor is a testament to finding purpose in the unexpected. It all started during a summer placement at the reception when the director resigned mid-season and complaints flooded in. That's when Charles discovered his calling at the front desk, learning to stay calm under pressure, turn frustration into satisfaction and find meaning in every challenge. He recognised that each complaint represented a story, an opportunity to bring a smile to someone's face, and that being on reception meant being the first point of contact where guests came to be listened to. After developing his skills and versatility at ibis Douai Centre, Charles balanced his studies with helping to open ibis Styles Strasbourg Centre – establishing processes, building teams and maintaining service quality across both properties. His dedication and passion earned him a promotion to Head of Reception at ibis budget & ibis Styles Strasbourg Centre République, where he now leads two exceptional teams. The genuine human connections, the warmth and the chance to transform every stay into a memorable experience keeps Charles motivated. At the heart of the kitchen is Carmen, a key member of the pantry staff who joined through an inclusion programme. She finds great joy and pride in her work, loving the feeling of having her dishes perfectly organised. Assistant Manager Tatiana's career began unexpectedly at 19 in the Netherlands, where she discovered her passion for hospitality. She grew from a Front Office Agent to a Shift Leader and eventually a manager before returning to Portugal. For her, the best part of hospitality is connecting with people from all over the world and knowing she can always make a difference in someone’s experience. F&B Leader Ana Rita’s story is one of embracing new challenges. After applying for a receptionist role, she accepted an offer in F&B, a field she was initially unsure of. She quickly found her footing, growing from a waitress to a leader. She believes hospitality is a school that provides an incredible foundation of skills, and she loves meeting extraordinary people from all walks of life. From Lisbon to Luxembourg, Diogo began a new chapter in 2024, joining the team at novoteluxembourgkirchberg just as junco_restaurant was opening its doors. Starting in service and growing into his role as Restaurant Host, he learned the rhythm of the restuarant and the rhythm of hospitality itself. With every shift, from busy breakfasts to lively dinners, he discovered how much he enjoys welcoming guests, managing the flow of the restaurant, and being a steady presence. Coming from a background in political science and international relations, he finds meaning in the cultural diversity around him. In Luxembourg, every day brings new conversations, personalities and perspectives. Diogo also grew up in a big Portuguese family where hosting was second nature, caring for others has always felt natural to him. Meet Anna, who discovered a career in hospitality while still in high school, through the guidance of an inspiring teacher after a cancelled class led her to tourism studies. While studying, she found a Receptionist role at an ibis hotel and started her Accor journey in 2019. In 2020, she joined the newly opened mercure_warszawaursusstation at the Front Desk and, within a year, her observations and ideas were recognised and she stepped into the role of Guest Experience Manager. Working closely with the team, Anna helped build the hotel from the ground up, focusing on people, expectations and the small details that shape a stay. As she says, “It’s more than just renting out rooms, it’s about making guests feel comfortable, welcomed and at home away from home.” Alongside her role, she also spent over a year supporting administration and employment processes, gaining a broader understanding of how each role contributes to the hotel as a whole. For Anna, hospitality is defined by people – the colleagues, managers and mentors who showed her what the industry can be. Her proudest moments come when ideas turn into real improvements, and her advice to others is simple and honest: “Do not be afraid to speak up and share your ideas – if you don’t try or ask, the answer is always no.” #WeAreHeartists

Meet Konrad, Front Office Ambassador at tribe_krakowoldtown 🇵🇱. Drawn to hospitality from a young age, he was driven by a love for people, communication and welcoming others with genuine warmth. His journey has taken him from hotel school and waiting tables in Italy to Housekeeping, Reception and beyond. Being part of the first TRIBE hotel in Poland feels especially meaningful for Konrad, who values Accor’s progressive mindset and inclusive culture where everyone is free to be themselves. As he says, “Accor lets you be yourself, you can develop your character, and the company gives you every opportunity to give guests your best - there are no barriers.” His proudest moments come from everyday connections, particularly when he can truly support guests in difficult situations. She stepped into hospitality as a Housekeeping Supervisor and is now a Housekeeping Manager for the last two years, focusing on ensuring guest comfort and supporting her team’s development. Ivo’s path began by chance when he applied to Pullman to build his communication skills. He started as a Receptionist and then grew into the position of Guest Relations Officer. He is motivated by the moments when departing guests leave visibly happy - including one memorable Sunday evening that turned into his fastest 5km run through Riga Old Town to organise flowers and balloons before a late arrival. Rolands started his hospitality journey at 22 and realised he thrives on human connection, thinking on his feet and creating experiences that stay with guests long after they leave. Today as a Front Office Manager, he says Hospitality allowed him to grow, learn, and genuinely make someone’s day better. Meet Saruul, Seminar and Reservations Agent at mercurewiencity. 🇦🇹 Her mornings usually start by aligning priorities with her manager and checking in with the Front Office to see if support is needed, before turning her full attention to what she calls her baby, the seminar room. From coordinating catering to making sure every detail is just right, Saruul takes pride in creating a smooth experience for every guest. What stood out to her from the very first interview was the nice atmosphere and the warmth of the colleagues who have been there for years, which she saw as a real sign of a great place to work. Starting his career as a carpenter and then as a stage technician at the Vienna State Opera, he wanted to make a difference, help shape things and achieve something more.
