Job Description

This role works closely with Fairmont Raffles Operational Leaders, General Managers and Directors, Talent & Culture across the region on labour relations priorities and initiatives.  This role will develop tools and resources to support positive employee/union relations, assist properties with negotiation preparation, lead training in the application of collective bargaining agreements and provide advice and guidance to Directors, Talent & Culture related to grievance management, arbitration preparation, and changes to roles under the CBA. This role will liaise with owners/representatives on areas of expertise as needed. and lead negotiations at key assets when required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
•    Provide company direction, strategy and mandates for renewal of collective bargaining agreements, inclusive of leading pre-bargaining preparation meetings and defining bargaining objectives
•    Provide direction and strategy to maintain a positive employee relations environment in non-union properties 
•    Counsel property leadership on organizational changes, grievances, arbitrations and progressive corrective action.  
•    Develop and implement learning tools, costing models and pre-bargaining/post bargaining resources for properties to support effective negotiations and enhance labour relations competencies at the Leadership level
•    Maintain relationships with key constituencies of unions representing our colleagues
•    Remain current on leading edge employee relations topics and monitor emerging trends and opportunities that can add future value, including participating in industry associations and frequently exchanging with legal and HR professionals to remain apprise of recognized best practices
•    Leading labour initiatives to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws
•    Develop and deliver labour relations training to all levels of the organization
•    Formulating and administering labour relations policies and represent the Company before federal, state, and local entities on employment matters
•    Maintain awareness of new and current employee/labour rules from applicable government bodies
•    Manage all Collective Bargaining Agreements proactively and in line with company values


Qualifications

•    Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to build relationships with various constituencies and partners
•    Extensive collective bargaining experience particularly in interest-based bargaining
•    Creative problem solving and business acumen
•    Ability to interact at a senior level and with ownership, legal counsel and union counterparts to gain credibility and influence
•    Action oriented, ability to execute on action plans and manage multiple priorities
•    Strong execution skills
•    Ability and willingness to travel as required
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills University degree in Industrial Relations or related field
 


Additional Information

Location: New York City, NY

Salary range: Annual base salary $250-275K USD
