We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Southampton as our new Security Officer. Reporting to the Director of Security, the Security Officer is responsible for protecting the safety and security of the hotel’s guests, employees, and assets. This role involves patrolling the premises, monitoring security systems, maintaining control of access points, and responding to incidents and emergencies. The Security Officer also plays a key role in enforcing hotel policies, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and delivering professional, guest-focused service to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all.
What you will be doing:
Security & Safety Operations
- Patrol the hotel premises (interior and exterior) on a continuous, 24-hour basis to ensure a safe environment.
- Monitor CCTV systems, alarm systems, and surveillance equipment to detect and respond to suspicious activity.
- Maintain vigilance over all access and exit points, including doors, locks, lighting, and surrounding areas.
- Ensure all entry and exit points are secure, accessible, and free from obstruction at all times.
- Proactively monitor guest and visitor behaviour to prevent incidents before they occur.
- Respond promptly and professionally to incidents including theft, vandalism, disturbances, fire, medical emergencies, and safety concerns.
- Provide a calm, controlled, and effective response during emergencies such as fire alarms, evacuations, and medical situations.
- Act as a key member of the Emergency Response Team.
Access Control & Asset Protection
- Ensure strict accountability, issuance, and tracking of keys and access credentials.
- Secure restricted areas and enforce access control procedures.
- Support loss prevention initiatives and protect hotel assets.
Reporting, Documentation & Communication
- Prepare clear, accurate, and detailed incident reports, daily logs, and security documentation.
- Report hazards, safety concerns, and policy violations in a timely manner.
- Maintain proper records for key control, incidents, and investigations.
- Liaise effectively with other hotel departments to maintain safety and operational efficiency.
- Communicate and coordinate with local emergency services including Police, Fire & Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services as required.
Guest Service & Support
- Provide a visible and approachable presence to enhance guest confidence and comfort
- Assist guests with directions, inquiries, and general assistance
- Support lost and found processes, ensuring proper documentation and secure handling of items.
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Enforce all hotel policies and procedures consistently and professionally
- Carry out all duties in a fair, impartial, and respectful manner
- Follow all health, safety, and fire prevention regulations
- Participate in ongoing training related to security operations and emergency response

Experience
- Minimum of 1+ year of experience in a security or related safety role; experience in hospitality or hotel security is an asset.
- Experience in patrol duties, CCTV monitoring, incident response, or emergency procedures is advantageous.
Education & Licenses
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, or Basic Fire Safety is desirable.
- Valid security license/certification as required by local laws and regulations may be required.

- Strong understanding of security principles, safety practices, and emergency response procedures.
- Excellent observation, surveillance, problem‑solving and decision-making skills.
