Job Description

The Millwright is responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment throughout the hotel property. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of mechanical infrastructure that supports hotel operations, including kitchen equipment, pumps, motors, heat exchangers, and other mechanical assets.

Working as part of the Engineering team, the Millwright supports preventative maintenance programs, responds to operational issues, and contributes to maintaining the exceptional standards expected at a world-class luxury resort.

Starting Rate: $40.96. Compensation will increase every year on September 1st. 

Job Duties Include:

Reporting to the Assistant Director & Director of Engineering, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment including pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct precision alignment, bearing replacement, and mechanical rebuilds.
  • Maintain mechanical drives including belts, chains, couplings, and gear systems.
  • Execute preventative maintenance programs for mechanical assets across the property.
  • Inspect equipment regularly to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.
  • Document maintenance activities within the Engineering Preventative Maintenance System (Transcendent).
  • Support long-term asset reliability and lifecycle management.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
  • Support capital projects and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Work alongside contractors and other engineering trades on mechanical systems.
  • Respond to service calls and operational issues affecting hotel operations.
  • Provide mechanical support for kitchens, mechanical rooms, and building infrastructure.
  • Assist other engineering trades when required to support hotel operations.
  • Follow all occupational health and safety regulations and hotel safety policies.
  • Maintain safe work practices including lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized mechanical rooms and work areas.
  • Work closely with Engineers, Electricians, Plumbers, HVAC Technicians, and other trades.
  • Support departmental initiatives focused on sustainability, energy efficiency, and operational excellence.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and collaborative engineering team environment.

Qualifications

Your Skills & Qualifications

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Millwright Certification or Alberta Journeyperson Millwright Certificate.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in industrial, institutional, or hospitality environments.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Mechanical drives and rotating equipment
    • Pumps and motors
    • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
    • Mechanical alignment and precision installation
  • Experience with preventative maintenance systems and work order platforms.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
