Our esteemed hotel is centrally located in Cairns City. Our property features 324 elegantly appointed rooms, 18 versatile meeting spaces, Coco’s Kitchen and Bar, as well as in-room dining services. We are now seeking a dedicated handyperson to support our team in the ongoing upkeep and maintenance of rooms and public areas. This is an essential role that helps ensure our guests experience the high standards of comfort and presentation that define Pullman Cairns International.


Job Description

Delivering a 5-Star Experience – Behind the Scenes

Are you a technically-minded professional who enjoys troubleshooting systems, solving practical challenges, and keeping operations running smoothly? Pullman Cairns International is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team and help maintain the exceptional standards of our 5-star hotel.

This is a practical, hands-on role based primarily indoors in a well-maintained, air-conditioned environment. You’ll play a crucial part in ensuring the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of our guests through efficient maintenance of our building and facilities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Complete routine and preventative maintenance in guest rooms and public spaces
  • Troubleshoot and repair a variety of facility-related issues including air-conditioning, plumbing, fittings, and general wear and tear
  • Respond promptly to restore out-of-service rooms and support the smooth running of essential building services
  • Assist in system checks and minor servicing of plant and equipment
  • Work collaboratively with the engineering team and liaise with external specialists when needed

We're looking for someone who is confident working with a range of tools and systems, with a strong problem-solving mindset and a focus on quality workmanship.


Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who brings practical knowledge and a solid understanding of how building systems operate. If you're someone who thrives on diagnosing issues and restoring functionality with precision and care, you’ll fit right in.

Qualifications & Attributes

  • Proven experience in hands-on repair or maintenance roles with exposure to systems involving water, air-conditioning, or general infrastructure
  • Comfortable using tools and fault-finding techniques to address facility-related concerns
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to technical tasks
  • Strong communication and a customer-focused mindset
  • Physically fit, reliable, and capable of working both independently and within a team
  • Flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including mornings, afternoons, weekends, and public holidays
