Job Description

Irrigation Technician - Golf Course

Our Irrigation Technician reports directly to our Golf Course Management team, and is responsible for ensuring that the Golf Course at Fairmont Chateau Whistler remains in immaculate condition.

This is a full time, summer seasonal position, starting as soon as possible and ending in October 2025.

Starting Rate of Pay: $25.25 per hour

We recognize tenure through our compensation - hourly rates increase after 6 months and then yearly to three years. At three years the pay rate for this role would be $31.05.

Job Duties Include:

  • Operates, maintains and repairs a complex irrigation system, including leaks in distribution lines, valves, control lines and sprinkler heads
  • Maintains and repairs the master and satellite controllers
  • Compressor experience required for blow out of the system
  • Periodically inspects the various components of the irrigation system to ensure that they are operating properly
  • Constant attention to preventative maintenance schedule, keeping records to ensure that all areas of the course are working to optimal performance at all times
  • Monitors problem areas and finds solutions

Qualifications

  • 1 year previous experience as an Irrigation Technician is required
  • Minimum of 3 years previous experience in golf course maintenance is required
  • Working knowledge of Stratus II Irrigation Program is preferred
  • Post Secondary Education in Turf Management is an asset
  • Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system
  • Valid BC Driver's license and steel-toed boots are required
