Job Description

  • Plan daily engineering staff briefing with Engineering Manager and assist in distributing daily work assignments
  • Schedule and document planned and unplanned maintenance programmes for the various systems such as (not limited to) the following:
    • Air-conditioning & electrical, refrigeration, FLS equipment, building maintenance including furniture & fixtures, painting, parts renewal & repairs, kitchen and laundry equipment, low voltage (LV), guest rooms, F&B outlets, function/banquet areas, front/back of the house, plumbing & drainage
  • Supervise and provide constructive feedback to all team members to ensure safe work practices, efficient operation, proper preventative maintenance and repair to equipment
  • Assist in the preparation of consumption reports on power, water, steam, and gas
  • Ensure that maintenance & repairs performed by contractors are executed in accordance with agreed health and safety policy, contracts, fees or charges
  • Review workflow and provide Engineering Manager with possible improvements to increase efficiency
  • Coordinate and inform Engineering Manager of any disruptions to service of any kind
  • Conduct regular inspections of all engineering systems and equipment to identify potential issues and recommend preventative measures
  • Liaise with external vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts and services
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance for future reference and analysis
  • Participate in energy conservation initiatives and implement sustainable practices within the engineering department
  • Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response procedures related to engineering systems and equipment

Qualifications

 

  • Secondary / High school education or equivalent
  • Trade Certificate with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar capacity
  • Good reading and oral proficiency in English language
  • Proven experience in building maintenance, HVAC systems, and electrical systems
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations in the hospitality industry
  • Proficiency in using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Valid certifications in relevant technical areas (e.g., electrical, plumbing, or HVAC)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
  • Additional language skills, particularly in languages common among hotel guests, would be advantageous
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
