Job Description

We’re looking for a Director of Engineering who thrives on operational excellence, safety, sustainability, and team leadership — and who understands that in hospitality, details matter.

As Director of Engineering, you will lead the full Engineering function across the property, ensuring optimal performance of all technical operations while driving cost control, compliance, safety, and team development.

You’ll sit at the heart of the hotel’s operational leadership team — balancing hands-on technical oversight with strategic planning and financial discipline.

 Property Operations & Asset Management

  • Lead and supervise the full Engineering team.

  • Oversee the entire physical plant including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems.

  • Ensure all equipment operates at maximum efficiency, safety, and effectiveness.

  • Establish and manage a comprehensive rooms maintenance programme.

  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and determine required maintenance, repairs, renovations, or upgrades.

  • Manage capital expenditure planning and equipment procurement.

  • Control departmental expenses to meet or exceed budget targets.

Compliance, Standards & Preventative Maintenance

  • Ensure full compliance with hotel engineering standards, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain accurate logs, maintenance records, and technical documentation.

  • Plan, schedule, and evaluate preventative maintenance programmes to protect asset longevity.

  • Ensure emergency preparedness across the property and strict adherence to life safety standards.

Guest Experience & Service Leadership

  • Support operational teams in resolving technical guest complaints quickly and effectively.

  • Lead by example in delivering a culture of service excellence.

  • Create an environment where engineering supports — not disrupts — the guest journey.

Financial & Strategic Oversight

  • Prioritise property-wide maintenance needs in alignment with business objectives.

  • Drive cost efficiency without compromising safety or guest experience.

  • Maintain strong cross-departmental communication to align engineering goals with overall hotel performance.

  • Leadership & Team Development

  • Build a motivated, high-performing Engineering team.

  • Ensure fair and consistent application of policies and procedures.

  • Deliver ongoing technical and safety training programmes in collaboration with HR and the Training Manager.

  • Monitor team performance, engagement, and satisfaction levels.

  • Manage staffing, holidays, and workforce planning effectively.

  • Support emergency response readiness across all departments.

Pre-Opening & Task Force Support

  • Support new openings and Task Force initiatives when required.

  • Undertake additional reasonable duties aligned with the senior leadership role.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Director of Engineering or senior Engineering leader in a luxury resort or large-scale hotel environment.

  • Strong technical knowledge across building systems and hospitality infrastructure.

  • Solid financial acumen with experience managing budgets and CAPEX planning.

  • Deep understanding of health, safety, fire, and regulatory compliance.

  • A visible, hands-on leadership style.

  • Strong people leadership skills with a passion for training and development.

Additional Information

  • The opportunity to join an international and innovative and fast-growing group, committed not only to building new hotels, but to creating a global brand.
  • The ability to challenge the norm and work in an environment that is both creative and rewarding.
  • Be part of a team that is very passionate about creating great hospitality experiences and exploring new locations with every opportunity.
  • A competitive package and plenty of development opportunities.
