Job Description

Director of Banquets

Engaging service, delicious cuisine and distinctive surroundings make every special event at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts a truly memorable affair. As Director of Banquets, you will provide vision and leadership that fosters an engaged team and ensures quality, efficiency and superior service at each group function.

This is a full-time, permanent position.

Salary Range: $76,000 - $81,000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications.

Job Duties Include:

  • Responsible for efficient management of Whistler's largest conference space
  • Oversees the recruitment, mentorship and development of 70 Banquets colleagues
  • Direct and manage all activity related to the Banquet department
  • Follow and administer the annual budget, maintaining accurate Banquet billing and records
  • Ensuring food safety practices are strictly adhered to including allergy and sanitation procedures
  • Respond to guest concerns and react quickly and professionally
  • Developing strong working relationships with other senior leaders across Conference Services, Culinary and Stewarding to ensure service excellence across all Banquet functions
  • Attend pre-conference meetings with clients and departmental meetings with colleagues

Qualifications

  • Minimum four years of experience in Food and Beverage Management including minimum one year in a banquet/event/conference setting in a full service four (4) or five (5) diamond property
  • Results oriented with the ability to be flexible, work well under pressure and be accountable to make sound, thoughtful business decisions
  • University/College degree in a related discipline preferred
  • Knowledge of Fairmont Hotels Sales and Catering System, Property Manager, Birchstreet, Silverware, Avero
  • Valid BC Serving it Right certificate
