We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Commis I specializing in Tandoor Cuisine to join our culinary team Grand Mercure Mysore, India. As a Commis I, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations, focusing on the preparation and cooking of authentic tandoor dishes.
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients for tandoor dishes, including marinating meats and vegetables
- Operate and maintain the tandoor oven, ensuring proper temperature control and cooking techniques
- Prepare and cook various tandoor specialties, such as naan, kebabs, and tikkas
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and high-quality food production
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
- Assist in inventory management and stock rotation of ingredients
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to minimize waste and maintain consistency
- Participate in kitchen cleaning and maintenance tasks as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school training preferred
- Food handler's certification
- Proficiency in tandoor cooking techniques and equipment
- Knowledge of North Indian cuisine, particularly tandoor dishes
- Understanding of Indian spices and ingredients
- Basic knife skills and food preparation techniques
- Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Previous kitchen experience preferred, but not required for entry-level candidates
