Join our culinary team as a Commis I specializing in South Indian Cuisine in the vibrant city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to assist in the preparation and cooking of authentic South Indian dishes in our bustling kitchen.
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients for South Indian dishes, including washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring
- Support senior chefs in cooking and plating South Indian specialties
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment properly
- Follow recipes and cooking instructions accurately
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and service
- Assist in inventory management and stock rotation
- Participate in kitchen cleaning and sanitation tasks
- Learn and adapt to new cooking techniques and recipes
- Contribute to a positive and teamwork-oriented kitchen environment
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school diploma or certificate preferred
- Knowledge of South Indian cuisine, ingredients, and cooking techniques
- Proficiency in knife skills and food preparation techniques
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices; food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) preferred
- Basic math skills for recipe measurements and conversions
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Willingness to learn and grow in the culinary field
- Knowledge of local food regulations and standards in Dubai
- Ability to work legally in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the same or similar role
- Prior experience working with Opera or a related system
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Fluency in English, additional languages are a plus
