The Commis – Colleague Dining Room supports the culinary operations of the colleague dining facility by assisting in the preparation and service of meals for hotel employees. Working under the guidance of senior chefs, this position helps prepare ingredients, cook basic dishes, and ensure that meals are produced according to established recipes, quality standards, and hygiene practices. The role contributes to the smooth day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring that colleagues receive meals that are prepared efficiently and consistently.
In this role, the Commis – Colleague Dining Room assists with food preparation, maintains cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, and supports the team in delivering nutritious and well-prepared meals in a timely manner. The position requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn, offering a valuable opportunity to develop culinary skills while contributing to a positive dining experience for hotel colleagues.
- Culinary Education: A basic culinary education, such as a diploma or certification in Culinary Arts, is an advantage and provides foundational knowledge in cooking techniques and food safety practices.
- Experience: Previous internship or exposure in a professional kitchen environment will be beneficial.
- Volume and Time Management: Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume kitchen environment and manage time effectively, particularly during peak meal periods in the colleague dining facility.
- Menu Adaptation: Ability to follow recipes while adapting meals to accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, or special requests when required.
- Consistency and Quality Control: Strong attention to detail in following standardized recipes, portion control, and presentation to ensure consistent meal quality for colleagues.
- Multi-Tasking Ability: Ability to handle multiple kitchen tasks simultaneously, including food preparation, cooking, and monitoring different food stations.
- Hygiene and Food Safety Awareness: Basic understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work collaboratively with chefs and kitchen colleagues, follow instructions, and contribute positively to the team environment.
- Adaptability and Willingness to Learn: Openness to learning new techniques, adapting to a fast-paced kitchen environment, and continuously developing culinary skills.
