Job Description

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Commis 1 to join our culinary team in Mumbai, India. As a Commis 1, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and contributing to the creation of exceptional dishes.

  • Assist the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations
  • Prepare ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring
  • Follow recipes and cooking instructions accurately to ensure consistent quality
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service
  • Assist in the proper storage and labeling of ingredients and prepared foods
  • Participate in kitchen inventory and stock rotation tasks
  • Support the culinary team during busy service periods
  • Learn and adapt to new cooking techniques and menu items
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff

Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience in a professional kitchen setting
  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a Commis in a high-end restaurant
  • Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment
  • Excellent understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform kitchen tasks efficiently
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new culinary techniques
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
