Job Description

Social is where energy, craft, and hospitality converge. From sunlit afternoons to vinyl-fueled nights in the hidden Listening Room, this is a space for hospitality professionals who thrive on curiosity, connection, and rhythm.

The Bar Manager supports the Social General Manager in delivering the full bar vision, with a special focus on cocktail programs and the Listening Room experiences. You act as a barroom curator, guiding guests through thoughtfully crafted drinks, sensory experiences, and discovery-led service moments. This role balances operational responsibility with creative execution, ensuring every pour, playlist, and tableside ritual is intentional.

Start Date: April 2026
Contract Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $55,000 - $62,000 per year, dependent on experience.
Reports to: Bar General Manager

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Assist with daily operations across the main bar, lounge, and Listening Room.
  • Lead cocktail service, from modern classics to wellness-forward creations and rare spirit experiences.
  • Maintain cellar and inventory organization, quality, and cost control.
  • Support scheduling, operational flow, and team engagement.
  • Model composure, craft, and attentive guest service on the floor.

Experience & Storytelling

  • Own the execution and storytelling of the Listening Room experiences, including Dealer’s Choice, Rare Whisky Pairing, and Craft Your Own.
  • Collaborate on seasonal cocktail menus, batch programs, and special events.
  • Curate energy, rhythm, and atmosphere alongside the Social Manager, culinary team, and entertainment team.
  • Ensure consistency of tone: confident, curious, and intentional across all services.

People Leadership & Development

  • Coach and develop bartenders and service staff in mixology techniques, tableside rituals, and storytelling.
  • Inspire commitment and high performance by enrolling buy-in rather than directing through authority.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, ownership, and emotional intelligence.
  • Act as a visible, composed leader during high-energy or high-pressure services.

Qualifications

What You Bring

• Strong cocktail knowledge with experience in modern, craft-forward programs.
• Comfortable leading both fast-paced bar service and intimate, high-touch experiences.
• Passion for hospitality rituals, storytelling, and guest discovery.
• Skilled at building team confidence and inspiring creativity.
• ProServe certification required.

Bonus If You Bring

• Experience with concept-driven spaces (speakeasy, Listening Room, secret menu).
• Background in luxury hotels or high-volume destination nightlife.
• Passion for developing beverage programs and experiential bar models.
• Formal beverage, spirits, or leadership education.

Who You Are

You are socially confident, perceptive, and energetic, thriving in environments where energy shifts from day to night. You find purpose in shaping both the guest experience and the team behind it.
You lead with clarity without being forceful, anticipate moments without over-directing, and motivate others through trust and example. Pressure sharpens your focus, not your tone.
At Social, you don’t just assist operations, you help set the rhythm, guide the mood, and support moments that guests will remember long after the music fades.

Lead with intention. Stay moved.

Physical Demands

• Continuous standing and walking throughout service periods.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 11lbs (5kg); occasional lifting up to 22lbs (10kg).
• Ability to work at a faster-than-average pace in a high-energy bar environment.

Visa Requirements: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
