Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the venue, ensuring it runs smoothly, safely, and in full compliance with gaming, liquor, and food & beverage legislation
  • Manage gaming, bar service, Keno, and entertainment offerings
  • Act as the Gaming Nominee, maintaining full compliance with all gaming and liquor regulations
  • Monitor patron behaviour and uphold responsible service of alcohol and responsible gambling practices
  • Drive a strong service culture, team engagement, and performance across all levels
  • Champion operational excellence by managing labour costs, budgets, inventory, and overall P&L performance to support sustainable profitability
  • Deliver a consistently positive guest experience for both hotel guests and local regulars
  • Translate the hotel’s F&B vision into high-quality, consistent service experiences that reflect Sofitel’s art of hospitality
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and F&B Manager to ensure menus, service standards, and execution align with brand expectations
  • Plan and support venue promotions and activations in partnership with the Marketing team
  • Oversee cash handling procedures and ensure accurate venue reporting

Qualifications

What You Will Bring

  • Proven experience in a gaming, bar or hospitality venue leadership role, with strong knowledge of day-to-day venue operations
  • A thorough understanding of Queensland gaming and liquor compliance, with the confidence to uphold legislation, venue policies and harm minimisation practices at all times
  • Experience acting in, or readiness to step into, a compliance-responsible position such as Gaming Nominee or Approved Manager
  • A strong sense of personal accountability and the ability to make sound operational decisions in a regulated environment
  • The ability to lead, coach and develop a team, creating a culture of professionalism, service excellence and responsibility
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and pride in delivering experiences that reflect the Sofitel luxury brand
  • A growth mindset with a desire to continuously improve venue performance, team capability and guest experience
  • Solid financial awareness, including labour control, cost management and interpreting venue performance results
  • Confidence managing customer concerns and complex situations with professionalism and composure
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with guests, team members and internal stakeholders
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays in line with venue trading hours
  • Currently hold or be willing to obtain licences as necessary (RSA, RSG, CLO, RMLV, Approved Manager, Gaming Nominee Licence)

Full Australian working rights are required for this role with the ability to work an average of 38 hours per week.
