Job Description

Are you a dedicated night owl with a knack for multitasking and a love for hospitality? We're seeking versatile individuals to join our Night Operations Team. This unique role offers the flexibility to contribute as a hands-on Night All-Rounder while also providing a clear pathway and immediate opportunities for those ready to step into Assistant Night Manager responsibilities. Whether you're experienced in overnight operations or keen to develop your leadership skills, we welcome your application!

Reporting to the Night Manager, you'll be instrumental in ensuring our overnight processes run smoothly, all while delivering exceptional guest experiences and safeguarding their security during their stay.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Night All Rounder, you'll be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, ensuring no two nights are exactly alike:

  • Guest Engagement: Often the first point of contact for guests, you'll handle late check-ins and early check-outs, efficiently manage guest accounts, post charges, and answer various inquiries. You'll also brief guests on the benefits of our loyalty program and assist with luggage handling.
  • Front Office & Night Audit: Complete essential night audit duties, including reconciling payments and generating daily reports.
  • Safety & Security: Conduct regular hotel security walks, monitor systems, and ensure guest safety and security throughout the night.
  • Operational Excellence: Maintain our high standards by regularly liaising with other departments like Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Reservations to meet guest needs. You'll ensure public areas remain clean and tidy and handle a wide variety of hotel tasks to keep everything running smoothly.

For those with Assistant Night Manager responsibilities, you will also:

  • Team Supervision: Assist in the management of the night team, providing effective supervision of all guest arrivals and departures, ensuring room allocation, check-in, and check-out processes are strictly followed.
  • Leadership & Problem Solving: Provide guidance and support, acting as a go-to person for any escalated issues or operational challenges.

Who We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you'll be a self-motivated and well-respected leader (or aspiring leader) with a passion for delivering outstanding results for our Hotel. You thrive in the quiet of the night and enjoy a mix of front office duties and ensuring our public areas are spotless.

You must be available to work night shifts, including weekends and public holidays, and must have Full NZ working rights.

This is a full-time position working on a rotating 7-day roster, with a wage range of $25.42- $29.11 per hour PLUS a night allowance from 12am - 5am. 


Qualifications

You will also have:

  • Previous experience in a Supervisory or Night Supervisor role,  within a Hotel environment
  • Must have LCQ
  • Must have GM certificate or willing to obtain this 
  • Comfortable to work night shifts and staying alert
  • Knowledge of emergency Procedures & general health and safety procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • An energetic and proactive approach to providing 5 star service
  • A meticulous and methodical approach to processing all tasks
  • An effective communicator
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs particularly Excel
  • Full New Zealand Drivers License 
  • Experience with a Hotel Property Management System (PMS) preferably Opera.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure in a busy fast-paced environment
  • Physically capable of performing cleaning tasks and standing for extended periods.
