Job Description

This position is responsible for assisting the Financial Controller and Hotel Accountant in the daily operation of the Finance department by providing accurate, relevant and timely support in all areas within company guidelines.

  • To ensure accuracy of reporting and journals.
  • Complete weekly bank and payroll journals and assist accountants with monthly journals as required.
  • To ensure completeness of bank reconciliation and revenue recognition.
  • Preparing daily revenue reports.
  • Process daily revenue files and balance flash reports, as from hotels – make necessary corrections and redistribute.
  • Check daily the hotels AR, Guest Ledger and Advanced Payment balances and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Send daily bank statements to AR for posting.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and update bank reconciliations for all hotels daily.
  • Assist with month end reporting and processing.

 


Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Business or a related discipline.
  • 3 years’ experience in a similar role preferably within the Hospitality industry.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and frameworks.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Previous knowledge of SUN systems highly advantageous advantage.
  • Ability to effectively time manage large volume workloads to meet deadlines and work well in pressure situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate accounting information, policies, and/or procedures in a manner easily understood by all levels of the business.
