Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Event Crew Leader to oversee the installation and breakdown of custom event décor, props, and scenic elements for high-end special events, brand activations, and immersive environments. This role is responsible for leading on-site crews and third-party labor teams to execute projects efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

As a key field leader, you will bridge planning and execution—ensuring designs are brought to life with precision while managing crew performance, timelines, and client expectations on-site.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, leads by example, and takes ownership of delivering exceptional event experiences.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead, direct, and manage on-site crews (internal staff and third-party labor) during load-ins, installs, and strikes
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for crew execution and coordination
  • Interpret build plans, layouts, and production schedules to ensure accurate and efficient installation
  • Oversee loading/unloading logistics, truck packing, and material handling
  • Ensure all scenic elements, props, décor, and furniture are installed safely, securely, and according to plan
  • Delegate tasks effectively and adjust labor in real-time to meet deadlines and changing conditions
  • Troubleshoot on-site challenges, making quick decisions to keep projects on track
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment at all times
  • Enforce safety protocols, venue regulations, and company standards
  • Communicate proactively with internal teams (production, warehouse, sales) regarding progress and issues
  • Represent Studio F professionally in client-facing environments
  • Support post-event wrap, inventory accountability, and proper return of materials

Qualifications

Your Experience and Skills Should Include

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in live events, scenic production, stagehand leadership, or related field
  • Proven experience leading crews and managing labor teams in live event environments
  • Strong understanding of event installation workflows, timelines, and logistics
  • Ability to read and execute based on build drawings, layouts, and production documents
  • Hands-on experience with tools, equipment, and scenic installation practices
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding work for extended periods
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-first, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accountability
  • Reliable transportation and strong punctuality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing third-party labor vendors and union crews
  • Box truck driving experience (valid driver’s license required)
  • Forklift or lift certification
  • OSHA or other safety certifications
  • Scenic carpentry, rigging, or fabrication experience
  • AV, lighting, or technical production knowledge
  • Experience with branded environments or experiential marketing builds
  • Knowledge of regional event venues and vendor networks
  • Additional Expectations
  • Flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and long shifts based on event schedules
  • Willingness to travel for select projects if needed
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and representing Studio F at a high level
