Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities:
 

Reporting to the Food & Beverage Director, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Direct and manage all activity related to the Banquet department, ensuring all service standards are followed.
  • Oversees banquets or events, including set-up, food presentation, serving, and clean up while focusing on detail and quality.
  • Maintains clean and orderly back areas, pre-function areas and storage areas.
  • Inspects table place settings, including table linen, china, glass, silverware, and condiments for correct placement.
  • Follow the annual budget and administer it in a financially responsible manner.
  • Ensure all financial reporting is maintained and accurate billing for each banquet meeting is recorded.
  • Respond to guests’ requests, concerns and react quickly and professionally.
  • Coordinates with other departments to arrange for the delivery of requested services.
  • Assume responsibility for all banquet facilities, including cleanliness, repair and maintenance, reporting any deficiencies as required.
  • Attend Daily banquet event order meetings.
  • Attend pre-conference meetings with clients to confirm all relevant details are communicated.
  • Responsible for training and coaching of the banquet staff.
  • Balance operational, administrative and Colleague needs
  • Conduct regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
  • Follow outlet policies, procedures and service standards.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate Food & Beverage or Hotel Management degree is preferred
  • Three years’ experience in a supervisory role within a luxury hotel or fine dining restaurant is required
  • Must be a motivated leader with proven record of achieving high levels of guest and colleague satisfaction
  • Previous training experience with new and developing teams a distinct advantage
  • Proven ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times in demanding and fast paced environment is required
  • Display high initiative requiring minimum supervision and excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Strong beverage knowledge, particularly of wines, is strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work cohesively as part of a team in a multi-cultural, diverse environment
  • Knowledge of Silverware, Opera, Birchstreet is an asset
  • Strong work ethic, highly responsible, reliable and the ability to work extended hours including evenings, public holidays and weekends is required.
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

  • Sitting: 0-1 Hr/Day; Walking: 6-8 Hr/Day; Standing: 6-8 Hr/Day.
  • Bending/Reaching: 4-6 Hr/Day; Pushing/Pulling: 4-6 Hr/Day.
  • Physical effort: Does not lift weight over 50lbs.
