For the busy summer season (May through October), we are looking for a flexible Houseman on a part-time / 0-hours basis. This role is ideal as a student job or for anyone looking to work some extra summer hours.
With 368 rooms, 2 restaurants, a spacious terrace, a beautiful bar, and 14 meeting rooms, there is always something to do — and we could really use your help!
Job Description
Who are we looking for?
As a Houseman, you play an important role in creating the first impression of Mercure Amsterdam City. You support both your colleagues and our guests by ensuring that everything in and around the hotel remains clean, organized, and in excellent condition at all times.
You are flexible, proactive, and hands-on, and no task is too big or small. Hospitality is dynamic — every day is different, and you enjoy that variety.
Availability is key:
You are available to work weekends, mornings, and daytime shifts, with flexibility across busy periods.
Qualifications
What will you do?
- Keep general areas and staff areas clean (dusting, vacuuming, mopping, etc.)
- Identify defects or shortages and report them to the right colleague
- Perform simple technical tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs)
- Assist with internal moves and set-ups of spaces
- Handle guest requests and support where needed
- Provide porterage services
- Clean hotel rooms when required (in absence of housekeeping)
You will work a mix of morning, day, evening, or night shifts, depending on operational needs. We always try to take personal preferences into account where possible.
