What you will be doing:

  • Expedite function bookings, writing menus, preparing resumes and event order
  • Compile and distribute conference agendas and event orders
  • Respond to all inquiries regarding catering space availability in a professional and timely manner
  • Maintain a variety of accounts to include social, corporate, incentive and association
  • Ensure detailed and open communication with all operating departments to ensure smooth execution of convention details
  • Conduct pre- and post conference meetings with groups to plan and address strengths and weaknesses of an event while soliciting repeat business
  • Servicing groups and weddings
  • Facilitate daily Catering/Banquet/Culinary meetings to ensure perfection in service delivery
  • Build partnership with the Banquet team to ensure service standards are maintained
  • Build relationships between Conference Services and the Operating Departments
  • Conduct site inspections for conventions, corporate, wedding and group business
  • Ensure the efficiency of Opera to track, solicit, book, produce BEO's and follow up on accounts
  • Build a close partnership with Sales Department to ensure all contractual terms agreed upon are carried out as well as to maximize function space for the highest profitability for the hotel
  • Assist in developing new business ideas and the promotion of existing business within all market segments
  • Ensure close relationships are established and maintained with clients to encourage repeat business
  • Resolve guest complaints when necessary

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Conference Services Manager in a luxury hotel.  Five diamond experience is an asset.
  • Hospitality Management Degree or a Post-Secondary Degree.
  • Extensive knowledge of Opera, Word and Windows based programs.
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Able to work on holidays, weekends and other non-shift days as the events you manage require
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Must be able to and enjoy working in a busy environment with minimum supervision
  • This position requires to work on Holidays, weekends and other non-day shifts
