Located in the heart of Canada's capital next door to the Parliament Buildings, the landmark Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel in Ottawa is looking to fill a role of Bilingual Fairmont Gold Lounge Server & Attendant (Temporary Part-Time).

Reporting to the Fairmont Gold Leadership Team, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Consistently offer professional, friendly, and engaging service.
- Provide exceptional table service in the Fairmont Gold lounge.
- Identify guest preferences and act on them to develop and maintain strong guest relationships to ensure Fairmont Gold loyalty.
- Assist guests regarding food and beverage menu items. Have knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents, and preparation methods.
- Proactively anticipate guests' needs.
- Set up and break down all food and beverage presentations in the lounge (breakfast, coffee/tea service, bar service, and canapés).
- Ensure the lounge is well maintained at all times, including transitioning the ambiance between different food and beverage presentations.
- Ensure the lounge area remains pristine, well-stocked, and up to high standards.
- Clear dishes from guest tables and ensure cleanliness of the lounge and service areas.
- Collaborate with other team members (concierge, front desk) to ensure smooth operations in the lounge.
- Create strong relationships with departments that support Fairmont Gold, primarily the culinary and stewarding departments.
- Extend complimentary services (e.g., drinks) and inform guests of additional offerings when possible.
- Remember and cater to the personal preferences of returning VIP guests.
- Ensure all Fairmont Château Laurier policies, procedures, and corporate Fairmont Gold standards are known, followed, and acted upon at all times.
- Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage items.
- Organize and maintain the Fairmont Gold pantry and storage areas to ensure efficiency.
- Assist with inventory control for Fairmont Gold pantry and storage areas (food and liquor).
- Follow all sustainability standards and initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Food and Beverage serving experience with knowledge of high-end dining etiquette required.
- Possess strong verbal communication skills (English and French) for interacting with guests and team members.
- Hold a smart serve certification.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Have experience in a hotel, resort, or luxury setting, especially in guest-facing roles (e.g., concierge, front desk, or lounge service).
- Demonstrate the ability to multitask, including managing guest requests, coordinating with departments, and handling supplies.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism, especially with high-profile guests.
- Be highly responsible and reliable.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities.
- Be able to work independently while maintaining high service standards.
- Adhere to dress code standards and possess a professional presentation.
- Bartending skills, an asset.
Physical Aspects of Position (included but not limited to):
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
- Frequent loading, pushing and pulling of luggage carts weighing up to 500 lbs
- Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
