The Sustainability Officer will support the Executive Director in the development and execution of Accor’s global sustainability strategy for Fairmont & Raffles. The Sustainability Officer will also play a key role in developing and implementing dedicated sustainability programs and initiatives for Fairmont & Raffles, which includes identifying, evaluating and assisting with the implementation of brand specific sustainability initiatives.
The Sustainability Officer will be responsible for supporting a global network of 100+ hotels. The individual will provide sustainability expertise to the hotel network and is responsible for providing guidance and consultation to help shape each hotel’s localized sustainability strategy and to ensure compliance with any Group or Brand level goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor sustainability strategies in line with Accor’s KPIs to ensure brand and regional relevance.
- Conduct regular competitive analysis of sustainability initiatives and practices within the industry and amongst other leading luxury companies.
- Onboard, train and guide Hotel Sustainability Managers and Champions on a day-to-day basis and in one-to-one engagements.
- Formulate action plans with defined objectives as required, targets and responsibilities to support agreed-upon sustainability strategies. Create up-to-date guidance documents on subject matters to enable hotel performance.
- Liaise with Accor’s central sustainability team on all required subject matters.
- Collaborate with corporate senior management to manage the sustainability efforts throughout the broader organization. This includes collaborating with and provide guidance to Brand Marketing, Procurement, F&B, D&TS, Guest Experience, and Commercial to help advance the brand’s sustainability efforts.
- Measure and monitor progress against sustainability strategies, objectives and performance targets. Ensure hotel sustainability reporting is up to date and accurate. Support hotel teams in utilizing Accor’s dedicated sustainability reporting tool Gaia 2.0.
- Consolidate monthly reports to present to GMs, VPOs and COO.
- Conduct desktop audits of hotels, and when necessary, site visits.
- Animate regular hotel group calls to answer questions, give update and foster solidarity.
- Support leadership in identifying and building relations with strategic local/global stakeholders and partners.
- Proactively anticipate hotel challenges and provide appropriate and timely solutions.
- Act as bridge between hotel teams and senior sustainability team.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Sustainability Management, preferably in a hotel or travel industry environment.
• Proficient in MS office suite and the ability to work with MS excel and quickly adapt to the use of new tools and platforms.
• Well-organized, detail-oriented professional and a self-motivated team-player with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to work well under pressure and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Ability to problem solve and develop creative solutions to address complex challenges.
• Background in hotel operations preferred.
• University education preferred
• Excellent English written and verbal communication.
• Strong project management skills, and ability to manage multi-projects at a time
• Dynamic and confident individual
• Team player with positive attitude
• Strong attention to detail and the production of high-quality work
• Should display personal drive to succeed and achieve
