Job Description

Fairmont St Andrews has an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced pool specialist, who is knowledgeable about pool systems and is looking to advance their career within a Hospitality environment.

The Pool Plant Technician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing minor pool plant equipment and providing general maintenance of the pool plant facility. This will be a cross functional role between Fairmont Spa and the Engineering Department. 

A little more about the role: 

· Perform all aspects of routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of spa pools and general spa facilities. May also include water treatment/water hygiene tasks within the hotel when not within the spa.

· Demonstrate a good knowledge and practice of pools circulation pumps, chemical dosing systems, heating systems, filtration systems and equipment

· Provide daily inspections of the pool plant facility to ensure all systems and equipment are in good working order.

· Work closely with the Spa Leisure and Resort’s Engineering teams to ensure all daily water testing and water treatment schedules are completed in line with NOP and ERP guidelines.

· A key point of contact for our Spa Manager, Director of Facilities and external Pool Plant Engineers - Jet Pools - to maintain the health and safety standards of all spa facilities.

· Work closely with Jet Pools, Engineering and the Spa Leisure team to provide a range of planned maintenance tasks and spa programming with minimal disruption to hotel guests and members.

· Perform a range preventative maintenance procedure in accordance with existing safety protocols, daily, weekly, quarterly and annual servicing schedules.

· Maintain excellent records of pool maintenance and water testing records.

· Ordering and inventory of all pool chemicals, PPE and cleaning supplies in line with the required Health & Safety guidelines.

· Monitor and service amenities such as sauna, steam room and drench bucket shower and sounding spa environment, reporting any faults to Duty Engineer.

· Provide an emergency response support, problem-solving and troubleshooting with all aspects of the pool and pool plant equipment.

· Perform all other duties as required for the role.


Qualifications

  • An Accredited Level 3- or Three-Day pool plant technician qualification or equivalent, demonstrating good knowledge of and practice of pool water treatment and testing, principles of pool plant operations and chemical safety.
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience in a maintenance role, preferably in health club, spa or hospitality environment is desirable
  • Experience with pool plant rooms and excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks. Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability when working in multiple departments.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK
