Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll / Accounts Payable Officer to join our finance team in Surfers Paradise, Australia. In this permanent position, you will be responsible for managing payroll processing and accounts payable functions with precision and efficiency. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organisational skills, analytical abilities, and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records whilst ensuring full compliance with Australian payroll legislation and tax requirements.

  • Process and administer payroll for employees, ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries, wages, and entitlements
  • Manage accounts payable functions, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and vendor reconciliation
  • Maintain comprehensive payroll records and documentation in accordance with Australian tax and superannuation regulations
  • Reconcile payroll and accounts payable transactions, identifying and resolving discrepancies with precision
  • Prepare payroll reports, tax documentation, and statutory compliance filings
  • Liaise with employees, managers, and external stakeholders regarding payroll and payment enquiries
  • Utilise accounting software and systems to record, process, and analyse financial transactions
  • Monitor and update payroll policies and procedures to reflect legislative changes
  • Perform data entry and verification tasks with meticulous attention to detail
  • Support the finance team with ad hoc reporting and analysis as required

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in payroll processing and accounts payable administration
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software packages such as Ready Work Force, Sun Cloud, Purchase Plus or similar platforms
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, tax compliance, and superannuation regulations
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all financial transactions
  • Strong time keeping and organisational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent people skills and professional communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office applications
  • Desirable knowledge of payroll compliance and industrial relations requirements specific to Australia (QLD)
  • Must hold valid Australian Work Rights
