Job Description

We're looking for a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join our culinary team in Visakhapatnam, India. In this role, you'll be responsible for creating exceptional pastries, desserts, and baked goods that delight our guests while maintaining the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and presentation. You'll work collaboratively with our kitchen team to develop innovative menu items, manage pastry operations efficiently, and ensure every creation meets our exacting specifications.   • Design, prepare, and present high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods that meet established quality standards and specifications
  • Develop and innovate new pastry recipes and menu items while maintaining consistency with established culinary standards
  • Train, mentor, and supervise pastry kitchen personnel, ensuring they adhere to proper techniques, hygiene standards, and professional conduct
  • Maintain meticulous control over food quality by checking taste, temperature, visual appeal, and portion sizes of all pastry items
  • Implement and enforce strict food safety and hygiene protocols, including HACCP standards, to prevent contamination and ensure safe food handling practices
  • Manage inventory, storage, and procurement of pastry ingredients and supplies in a hygienic and organized manner, minimizing waste and controlling costs
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained, sanitized, and stored according to established procedures
  • Collaborate closely with the kitchen team and management to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient pastry station
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all safety, health, security, and loss control policies, as well as relevant government legislation
  • Maintain exceptional personal hygiene and appearance standards at all times
  • Attend all required briefings, meetings, and professional development trainings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support overall kitchen operations

Qualifications

**Required Skills & Competencies:**

  • Advanced pastry and baking techniques with expertise in a variety of desserts and baked goods
  • Proficiency in food preparation, plating, and presentation with strong attention to detail and aesthetics
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP certification preferred)
  • Kitchen equipment operation and maintenance expertise
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Leadership and team supervision experience
  • Cost control and portion management skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills

**Required Experience:**

  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional pastry or baking experience in a high-volume kitchen environment
  • Proven supervisory or leadership experience in a culinary setting
  • Experience developing and implementing pastry menus
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain quality consistency across multiple pastry items

**Required Education & Certifications:**

  • Culinary degree or professional pastry certification from an accredited institution
  • Food Safety and Hygiene Certification (HACCP)
  • Fire and Life Safety Training certification

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Knowledge of current pastry trends and innovative techniques
  • Experience with specialty dietary requirements (gluten-free, vegan, etc.)
  • Familiarity with pastry-specific software or inventory management systems
  • Additional culinary certifications or advanced training in pastry arts
  • Experience in a hotel or fine dining establishment
