Company Description

Join the Shakespeare Group in a pivotal role at Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort and Convention Centre. We are looking for a seasoned Financial Controller to lead our financial strategy and drive profitability at our landmark resort, which boasts over 370 rooms and a 1500 pax convention centre, a premier venue in both the Australian and International events market.

In this high-impact position, you will oversee the daily financial operation of the resort, while providing leadership and guidance to the finance team. Your expertise will be crucial in delivering comprehensive financial presentations to stakeholders and playing a strategic role in enhancing the resort’s financial performance.


Job Description

As Financial Controller, you will shape financial strategies, manage complex reporting processes, and lead initiatives to optimize our financial systems. You will guide daily financial operations, oversee payroll for a portfolio of properties, and ensure rigorous compliance with standards. You will lead the review of financial documents, approve requisitions and payments, and provide strategic oversight across accounts receivable, accounts payable and cashiering functions.  

You'll be instrumental in managing annual budgets, driving financial forecasts, and ensuring accurate statutory reporting. Your leadership will inspire your team, foster a culture of excellence, and drive continuous innovation and improvements. Qualifications

  • Tertiary degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce or similiar
  • Proven experience in a similar role within the hotel industry, highly regarded
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and statutory responsibilities.
  • Proficient in accounting software; experience with TimeTarget, WageEASY, PurchasePlus, and Sun would be beneficial (but not required)
  • Thorough understanding of tax, superannuation, long service leave, and National Employment Standards.
  • Relevant State Police Check required.
