Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and visionary Director of Bar to join our team in Fairmont Tokyo, Japan. As the Director of Bar, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our bar venues, developing innovative beverage programs, and ensuring exceptional guest experiences.

  • Lead and inspire bar staff to deliver outstanding customer service and maintain high standards of quality
  • Develop and implement creative beverage menus that align with current trends and guest preferences
  • Oversee inventory management, cost control, and budgeting for all bar operations
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of bar services with overall hotel operations
  • Ensure compliance with local liquor laws, health and safety regulations, and company policies
  • Analyze sales data and customer feedback to continuously improve bar performance and guest satisfaction
  • Organize and oversee special events, promotions, and themed nights to enhance the bar's appeal
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and negotiate contracts for beverage supplies
  • Implement staff training programs to enhance product knowledge and service skills
  • Stay informed about industry trends and incorporate innovative practices into bar operations

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a beverage management role, preferably in a high-end hospitality setting
  • Proven track record of leadership and team management in a bar or restaurant environment
  • Excellent knowledge of beverages, including cocktails, spirits, wines, and non-alcoholic options
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and cost control
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with a customer-focused approach
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and point-of-sale software
  • Familiarity with food and beverage trends and ability to create innovative drink menus
  • Knowledge of Japanese liquor laws and regulations
  • Experience in 5-star hotels or similar upscale establishments
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Certified Sommelier, WSET) are a plus
  • Knowledge of Japanese language and culture is highly advantageous
