Job Description

We are seeking a talented and passionate Commis I (Indian & Tandoor) to join our culinary team in Navi Mumbai, India. As a Commis I specializing in Indian cuisine and tandoor cooking, you will play a crucial role in preparing authentic and delicious dishes while maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency in our kitchen.

  • Assist in the preparation of Indian dishes and tandoor specialties under the guidance of senior chefs
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas
  • Follow recipes and cooking techniques precisely to ensure consistency in flavor and presentation
  • Properly handle, store, and rotate ingredients to minimize waste and maintain food safety standards
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service hours
  • Assist in inventory management and restocking of supplies as needed
  • Participate in menu development and suggest improvements to existing dishes
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations in the kitchen

Qualifications

  • Proven experience (1-2 years) in a professional kitchen, preferably with a focus on Indian cuisine
  • Proficiency in Indian cooking techniques, especially tandoor cooking
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Excellent knife skills and food preparation abilities
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Basic math skills for accurate ingredient measurements
  • Culinary diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid food safety certification required
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects when necessary
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Passion for Indian cuisine and commitment to culinary excellence
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
