Job Description

We are looking for a Group Sales Manager to join our Sales team at The Hoxton, Downtown LA. This role will be responsible for proactively executing the hotel’s Groups & Meetings Sales Plan to ensure these segments revenue goals are achieved.

More about us… The Hoxton, Downtown LA is in a neighborhood that has seen a major revival over the last few years, with some of the city’s best restaurants, shops and bars opening up there and many more in the pipeline. The Hoxton, Downtown LA offers 174 rooms designed by Ennismore Design Studio, a ground floor restaurant with exciting culinary partners, along with The Hoxton’s first rooftop pool with restaurant and amazing views over Broadway, the historic commercial, theatre and cinema district and one of the oldest streets in the city.

What you’ll do….

  • To ensure your clients feel the love you’ll be on hand to meet and greet them. This means your work days and hours may differ week to week. All good though, we’ll help you strike a healthy work/life balance.
  • Checking the meeting spaces to ensure the team has set it up to your high standards is part of what you do. Each space should look on point and be fully loaded.
  • Client show arounds and entertainment are part of what you do – the best way to get that business across the line!
  • You’ll maximize revenue and increase conversion to help you achieve your personal and departmental new business and revenue goals.
  • It’s up to you to help guide the team, our partners and our guests to the best experience here at The Hoxton. You’ll need to know what the comp set offer and how Hoxton compares in the local market.
  • Check yourself (and others) with personal performance reports and quality control checks.
  • Help prepare and distribute BEO’s and Group Memo’s, and work closely with the hotels Operations team to support Group and Meetings execution
  • We’re in it together, so cross sell within your hotel and to our global hotel family.
  • Manage the sales and events inbox and sales phones
  • Lead rate strategy and negotiations for Citywide groups, Hotel and Apartment buyouts
  • Support Apartment Host duties as needed, manage inventory and expenses
  • Work closely with our Restaurant & Bar partners to grow the relationship and develop cross pollination
  • Prepare and distribute Groups & Meetings reports, and lead the weekly Sales Strategy Meeting. When needed represent the sales team in weekly Revenue Meetings.
  • Manage key Groups & Meetings accounts and create account development plans
  • Attend sales trips and trade shows and host entertainment for key accounts
  • Lead and inspire Sales Managers, Sales Coordinator(s) and support their goals
  • Write, develop, and execute a strategic plan with the GM and Revenue team to grow Groups and Meetings business. Your plan will have targeted Revenue goals.

What we’re looking for…

  • You have at least 1-3 years’ experience in a hotel sales role.
  • You are passionate about groups and meetings sales and are goal-driven.
  • You function well in a fast-paced environment and enjoy a challenge.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent attention to detail
  • You have a keen eye for detail and love to share your notes and feedback as well as listen.
  • You’re a natural host and can make guests and team members feel at home in our hotel
  • Passion for hospitality – whether that’s a drink, a meal, an event or a bed for the night.
  • Ability to work positively and collaboratively to achieve the highest standards of delivery at work.
  • Your humble and open to ideas. We leave our egos at the door and help get stuff done.

Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 a year

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Relevant sales experience is an asset
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
