Host, Notch8 - Full Time
You are the beginning and the end of an exceptional guest experience at Notch8, located inside the iconic Castle in the City. As a Host, your role is to make our guests feel welcome the moment they step through the door.

What you will be doing:

  • Offering a professional, friendly, and proactive greeting, delivering engaging guest service from start to finish
  • Assisting guests with menu selections in an informative, engaging, and helpful manner
  • Supporting your colleagues during service to ensure a smooth and consistent guest experience, including running food, refreshing beverages, and resetting tables
  • Possessing in-depth knowledge of the beverage list, menu items, preparation methods, and current promotions
  • Addressing guest concerns swiftly and graciously, offering remarkable solutions and always seeking to improve
  • Being attentive to guests’ dietary restrictions and allergies, ensuring seamless communication among the team
  • Staying up-to-date with loyalty program offerings and promotions
  • Adhering to all outlet policies, procedures, and service standards
  • Following safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverages
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To be successful in this role we ask that you have:

  • A service-focused personality with prior experience in a high-volume restaurant environment (preferred)
  • Previous experience in luxury hotels or the service-based industry (ideal but not required).
  • A genuine passion for food and beverage
  • Ability to focus on guest needs while remaining calm, courteous, and professional at all times.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Professional working proficiency in English
  • Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team, while also working independently when necessary
  • A sense of urgency and a "Yes, yes, yes" mentality with a "Can do" attitude
  • Highly responsible, reliable, with impeccable grooming standards and professionalism
  • Knowledge of wine, spirits, beer, cocktails, and specialty coffees (an asset)
  • Valid Serving It Right Certification
  • Flexibility to work a fluctuating schedule, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and rotating shifts

Physical Aspects of the Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Constant standing and walking throughout the shift
  • Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, and pulling

Visa Requirements:
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
