Job Description

Job Purpose: The Kitchen Steward is responsible for assisting the kitchen team by ensuring all kitchen areas are kept clean and tidy. The role also involves maintaining and sanitizing all operational equipment and supplies for food and beverage outlets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, including food preparation and storage areas.
  • Operate and maintain the dishwashing machine.
  • Ensure all food storage areas are clean and properly organized.
  • Assist with ingredient preparation and stock storage.
  • Keep work areas clean, and ensure all equipment is maintained and sanitized.
  • Report any maintenance needs to the Sous or Head Chef.
  • Follow cleaning rosters and methods for deep cleaning.
  • Safely handle chemicals and dispose of waste properly.
  • Contribute to energy conservation and cost control.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting.
  • Understanding of cleaning and sanitization standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
