Chief Engineer

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the planning, coordination, and management of all engineering activities within the organization. This includes overseeing engineering related projects and its maintenance. He/she must ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Chief Engineer also plays a critical role in leading the engineering team, fostering innovation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. He/she shall provide technical leadership and direction in all areas of engineering.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and manage the engineering team, provident guidance and performance evaluation
• Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment
• Develop and manage the engineering department's budget
• Ensure cost-effective use of resources and materials
• Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives

Project Management

• Oversee and manage the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects.
• Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality and safety standards.
• Manage resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
• Communicate project progress and technical information to senior management, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare and present reports, proposals, and technical documentation
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth project execution and communication.

Technical Expertise & Safety Assurance

• Provide technical leadership and direction in all areas of engineering.
• Review and approve engineering designs, plans, and specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
• Implement and monitor quality control processes.
• Promote a culture of safety within the engineering team.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in technology.
• Encourage the development and implementation of innovative engineering solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.

• Diploma/ Degree in Hospitality Management or have at least 10 years of working experience in a hotel
• A strong understanding of local law relating to Engineering
• Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in English language
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint

• Strong leadership, interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Excellent communication and customer contact skills
• Results and service oriented with an eye for details
• Ability to multi-task, able to perform well in stressful & high-pressure situations
• A team player, motivator & self-starter
• Well-presented and professionally groomed at all times
