Job Description

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is seeking a dynamic assistant Restaurant Manager for their Resident Restaurant and Retail Outlet: Stables Pub and Retail. Reporting to the General Manager of Colleague Services this position will be responsible for the effective and efficient day-to-day operation of Stables Pub and Retail. Serving the 800+ residents which live on property at Chateau Lake Louise this position is ideal for an individual who aspires to reach the next level in their career. Manage a highly impactful operation with a high level of autonomy to build a culture of excellence and make it your own.

What you will be doing:  

  • Champion the overall offering and commitment to an excellent resident experience. Working with the Colleague Services team, Lifestyles manager, and restaurant Chef to offer the best possible resident restaurant, event space, and retail. Delivering an exceptional experience to our most valued guests: our residents.
  • Hire, train, and lead an engaged team of 5 to 8 team staff members. Building a culture of service excellence.
  • Develop and enhance Fairmont service standards through disciplined administration of departmental Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines.
  • Carefully manage the pub arrival policy, ensuring ID’s are checked and managed in line with AGLC requirements.
  • Ensure effective working relationships and clear communication is maintained with all colleagues and leaders within the department and other departments.
  • Working with the key departments in the hotel to address staffing needs, and execute high level staff events.
  • Develop and administer the departmental Employee Engagement Survey Action Plan.
  • Critically assess procedures, policies, and methods of operation and alter them where necessary to enhance service.
  • Ensure the operation is financially responsible by managing costs, purchases, and productivity.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure that a common vision is shared and delivered.
  • Ensure that all equipment, fixtures, and furniture of the department are kept in the best repair possible and are used in a safe and proper manner.
  • Develop and maintain a safety culture within the department and ensure departmental adherence to, and awareness of, Health and Safety standards are met.
  • Ensure departmental participation in all hotel-wide environmental initiatives, and to develop departmental specific environmental initiatives.
  • Achieve or exceed all targeted objectives as set out for the departmental goals.
  • Attend communication meetings, Town Halls, Leadership Meetings, and others as applicable, and ensure that the daily and long term vision of the hotel is reflected in the operation of Stables.
  • Communicate with the hotel at large about menus and offerings.
  • Departmental payroll administration.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment, and be a champion of Health and Safety in Food and Beverage and the hotel.
  • Adhere to all hotel environmental policies and initiatives.
  • Carry out any other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • 1+ years at an Assistant Manager or Supervisory level of experience required.
  • Must have strong, proven leadership qualities and management skills.
  • Willingness to develop beverage knowledge and manage and grow an effective beverage program.
  • Working knowledge of Dayforce and Microsoft applications an asset.
  • Post-Secondary Degree in Hospitality or Food and Beverage Management an asset.
  • A demonstrated ability to delegate and follow up on tasks, ensuring results.
  • Completion of Global Leadership Program, Train the Trainer, or Interaction Management an asset.
  • Self‑motivated, with the ability to make effective decisions, communicate, solve problems, and collaborate with key stakeholders is essential.
  • Demonstrates initiative, and the ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain high service levels under pressure.
  • Physically fit to clear tables repeatedly, move furniture, bend, stand and walk for long periods.
  • Ability to consistently stand and walk through out shift.
  • Certification through AGLC for Protec and Proserve. Time spent and fees paid for by hotel.
