Job Description

The Director of Sales is responsible for leading the hotel's sales and revenue strategies to maximize profitability. This role requires creating, managing, and executing strategies to grow revenue across rooms, events, and other services. The Director of Sales will oversee the sales team, foster client relationships, and position the hotel as a premier destination in the market.


Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • MBA or Master’s degree (preferred, but not always required) in Business or a relevant field.

Experience

  • 3-7 years of experience in hotel sales, business development, or a related field.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role within the hospitality or hotel sales industry, demonstrating successful management of teams and revenue strategies.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales and revenue targets.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in CRM software and hotel management software, such as Opera, SIAPP Realta
  • Strong understanding of revenue management principles and tools, including yield management and competitive market analysis.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Industry Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of hospitality market trends and competitive landscapes.
  • Understanding of local and regional markets that impact hotel demand, such as corporate clients, events, and tourism.

Core Competencies and Soft Skills

  • Leadership and Team Management: Ability to inspire and lead a sales team, set performance targets, and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Strategic Thinking: Skilled in creating and executing data-driven sales strategies that align with hotel revenue objectives.
  • Client Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with key clients, corporate accounts, and stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication for internal team alignment and external client engagement.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills to interpret sales data, identify trends, and develop strategic responses.
  • Negotiation and Persuasion: Strong negotiation skills with a focus on closing deals and maximizing revenue opportunities.

Certifications (Optional but Preferred)

  • Certified Hospitality Sales Professional (CHSP) or Certified Hospitality Revenue Manager (CHRM).
  • Any additional sales or hospitality certifications that demonstrate advanced skills in sales, revenue management, or client relations.
