Job Description

Job Description – Director of Business Development

Position Summary

The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving the hotel’s (or company’s) long-term growth by developing strategic business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and identifying new markets and revenue streams. This role works closely with the General Manager, Sales & Marketing team, and Accor Corporate Office (if applicable) to ensure business expansion aligns with brand standards and overall financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Growth

  • Develop, implement, and execute the business development strategy to maximize revenue and profitability.

  • Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and markets (corporate, MICE, leisure, government, etc.).

  • Conduct market analysis and competitive benchmarking to guide business decisions.

  • Work with leadership to establish annual business development goals and KPIs.

Sales & Revenue Generation

  • Drive top-line revenue growth across rooms, F&B, events, and other revenue streams.

  • Lead the negotiation and closing of high-value business deals, contracts, and partnerships.

  • Support the Sales & Marketing team in securing large corporate accounts, long-stay agreements, and group bookings.

  • Monitor and review performance of key accounts and suggest improvement plans.

Client & Partner Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key corporate clients, travel agents, OTAs, government bodies, and industry partners.

  • Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, and networking forums to enhance brand visibility.

  • Build loyalty and retention programs that strengthen client partnerships.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, coach, and mentor the Business Development and Sales teams to achieve targets.

  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, Revenue Management, and Marketing to align strategies.

  • Promote a high-performance culture focused on accountability, innovation, and results.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare business performance reports for senior management and owners.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, brand standards, and legal requirements.

  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and ROI analysis for business development activities.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality, or related field (MBA preferred).

  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in Sales, Business Development, or Commercial leadership roles within hospitality or related industries.

  • Proven track record of achieving revenue growth and securing high-value partnerships.

  • Strong financial acumen with ability to prepare forecasts, analyze data, and drive profitability.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Strong leadership with ability to motivate, develop, and retain high-performing teams.

  • Well-versed with hospitality systems (e.g., Opera, Delphi, Salesforce, STR reports) and digital sales platforms.
