Summary
A Pool and Beach Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to guests at the pool and beach areas of the hotel. This includes setting up lounge chairs, providing towels, ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the pool and beach areas, assisting guests with their needs, and maintaining a friendly, approachable demeanour. Pool and Beach Attendants are also responsible for monitoring safety around the pool and beach, ensuring guests have a pleasant and safe experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival at the pool or beach area and offer assistance with seating arrangements and towel distribution.
- Provide guests with towels, umbrellas, chairs, and other amenities as needed.
- Offer water, refreshments, or other services in line with hotel standards, ensuring that guests are comfortable.
- Assist guests with any special requests, including arranging for food and beverage orders, offering pool toys, or helping with personal belongings.
- Maintain a professional, friendly, and attentive attitude at all times, ensuring guests feel welcomed and valued.
- Set up and organize poolside furniture such as lounge chairs, tables, umbrellas, and towels, ensuring that the area looks inviting and tidy.
- Ensure the beach area is clean and free from debris, including picking up trash, sand, and other items.
- Regularly check and tidy the poolside area, including adjusting furniture, restocking towels, and ensuring cleanliness throughout the shift.
- Ensure that safety equipment such as life vests, first-aid kits, and rescue tubes are available and in good condition.
- Monitor the pool and beach areas to ensure guest safety, especially around water.
- Be vigilant for any safety hazards such as slippery surfaces or unguarded areas, and take immediate action to address or report issues.
- Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures and be prepared to respond to accidents or safety concerns.
- Ensure that guests follow pool and beach rules, including proper swim attire, no running by the pool, and safe behaviours around the water.
- Respond promptly to any guest needs or concerns, such as providing extra towels, adjusting furniture, or fetching drinks.
- Help guests locate amenities like restrooms, showers, or restaurants.
- Assist with the rental of beach gear or poolside services, including water sports equipment or cabanas, if applicable.
- Take food and beverage orders from guests and communicate them to the appropriate restaurant team.
- Deliver food and beverages to guests in the pool and beach areas, ensuring timely and accurate service.
- Ensure that guests’ orders are handled with care, paying attention to guest preferences and allergies.
- Collect empty plates, glasses, and trash from pool and beach areas to maintain cleanliness.
- Coordinate with other pool and beach associate, as well as management, to ensure smooth operations and excellent guest service.
- Work with lifeguards and other associate to ensure that safety standards are maintained.
- Ensure that towels, sunscreen, and other amenities are stocked and available to guests throughout the day.
- Keep track of inventory, including towels, chairs, umbrellas, and pool toys, and report any shortages to the supervisor.
- Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by management to support the effective operation of the department and the broader goals of the property.
Experience/Certificates/Education
- Previous experience in a hospitality, pool, or beach-related role is preferred but not required.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle guest requests and complaints in a friendly and professional manner.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and sun exposure.
- Knowledge of pool safety rules and beach etiquette.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry items such as lounge chairs, towels, and umbrellas.
- Basic first-aid knowledge or certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects such as lounge chairs, umbrellas, and supplies.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach while setting up and maintaining the pool and beach area.
This role may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the establishment’s hours of operation.
