Job Description

Director of Loss Prevention and Health & Safety

Health, safety and security are an integral part of our daily operations. Our Director of Loss Prevention and Health & Safety will strive to ensure our hotel remains a safe workplace and travel destination, providing training and guidance to colleagues and leaders alike.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $97,000 per annum

Job Duties Include:

  • Consistent development of all hotel policies regarding both colleague and guest safety and security while leading the hotel H&S committee
  • Leading the security team to ensure excellent levels of guest and colleague satisfaction, investigating any guest or colleague security incidents and liaising with any outside emergency services
  • Responding to emergencies while on & off duty and working within all relevant federal, provincial and municipal acts
  • Being the WorkSafeBC champion for the hotel, supporting the Wellness Manager to complete any incident reporting and follow-up whilst reducing the amount of workplace accidents
  • Maintain and control all key card access and locks within the hotel using the ILCO lock system
  • Running various first aid, emergency response and fire safety trainings/workshops for hotel colleagues, ensuring compliance across all departments. Overseeing wildlife management control on property
  • Supporting the hotel through busy periods, helping out with crunch calls as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Three years in a security/loss prevention or health and safety management role required
  • Experience leading Certificate of Recognition (COR) audits
  • Knowlege of security equipment, fire suppression, emergency response & VIP protection procedures
  • BC Security Services Licence, BC Driver's Licence with clean driver's abstract and level 2 First Aid Certificate

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
