Gardener/Handyperson

We’re looking for a hands-on Gardener / Handyperson to join the Engineering team at Pullman Cairns International.

This role suits someone with a garden maintenance background , strong plant knowledge and a practical, hands-on approach. The position is a mix of garden and grounds maintenance, along with handyman and general maintenance duties as part of the Engineering roster.

If you’re coming from standalone gardening, landscaping or site-based work and want something more stable and structured, this role offers consistent hours within a premium, well-maintained 5-star property.

The Engineering Team & Environment

Our Engineering team is experienced, practical and proactive. Work is planned, tools and materials are supplied and you’ll be supported by supervisors and trades who know the property inside and out.

The team takes pride in their work, with care and attention to detail applied every day.

You’ll work across landscaped outdoor areas, public spaces and selected indoor areas, maintaining presentation and reliability in line with 5-star standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Maintaining gardens, lawns and landscaped areas across the hotel grounds
• Applying horticultural knowledge to plant care, pruning and fertilising
• Mowing, edging, weeding and general garden upkeep
• Monitoring and reporting irrigation issues and plant health
• Maintaining pathways, planters, outdoor furniture and public areas
• Assisting with handyman and general maintenance tasks as part of the Engineering roster
• Supporting preventative maintenance activities across the property
• Working closely with the Engineering team and external contractors
• Ensuring all outdoor and public areas are safe, clean and well-presented

What We’re Looking For

• Horticultural qualification or proven experience in gardening, landscaping or grounds maintenance
• Good working knowledge of plants in tropical environments
• Experience or capability in general handyman or maintenance tasks
• Practical, hands-on approach with good attention to detail
• Someone who takes pride in their work and the presentation of their environment
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team
• Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor and manual work
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
