Assistant Director, Talent & Culture (Human Resources)

What you will be doing:
Reporting to the Director, Talent & Culture, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Support the Director of Talent & Culture in assessing organizational needs, developing aligned human resource solutions and implement strategies in the areas of employee engagement and relations, talent acquisition, talent development and retention, compensation and benefits management, workers compensation and disability management, learning & development programs, reward and recognition, administration and colleague wellness
  • Assist in leading the day-to-day operation of the Talent & Culture Department, focusing on maximizing the capabilities of the team and ensuring all Talent & Culture core standards are being adhered to 
  • Oversee the full-cycle recruitment process for all departments and support the department managers in the hiring process
  • Assist in delivering property learning & development programs as required
  • Ensure that the Talent & Culture department delivers a high standard of service for both our internal guests and external clients
  • Ensure Talent & Culture colleagues are trained, informed and supported in carrying out their daily responsibilities
  • Act as an internal consultant to provide expert coaching and direction on Talent & Culture policy, programs, legislation, employment standards, human rights and employee relations
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate, regional and hotel policies, procedures and administration; and governmental regulations in all aspects of the human resources function
  • Counsel and coach leaders and colleagues on job related issues, personal and career development and performance management
  • Lead and assist in the organization of colleague events
  • Foster and promote positive employee engagement and relations through an environment of trust, mutual respect, inclusion, empowerment, integrity and open communication
  • Perform duties of the Director, Talent & Culture in their absence
  • Assist with all general office administration and reception and other duties as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in progressive Human Resources roles, with experience in a Leadership level position
  • University/College degree or diploma in a related discipline preferred
  • Knowledge of local labour laws and employment law requirements
  • Hotel operation experience is desirable
  • An energetic, resourceful and proactive talent & culture leader with effective organization, prioritization and decision-making skills
  • Collaborative and pragmatic approach to addressing & resolving difficult and challenging issues at all levels
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills, complimented by professional maturity and an innate ability to develop and encourage an open, stimulating and trusting environment
  • Confident presentation and facilitation skills
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.  The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
