Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Revenue and Reservations Manager, the Group Housing Manager is responsible for overseeing the group room block management process from start to finish. This includes managing group reservations, ensuring accurate room block utilization, and working closely with Sales, Events, and Revenue teams to optimize group business performance. The Group Housing Manager supervises the Group Housing Coordinator and other relevant team members.  Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

  • Consistently offers professional, engaging, and friendly service.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of group room block reservations, including monitoring pick-up, cut-off dates, attrition, and rooming lists.
  • Maintain daily communication with Sales, Events, Revenue and Accounting teams to ensure proper group room block management and alignment with revenue strategies.
  • Oversee the Group Housing Coordinator and support their professional development and day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure accurate input and maintenance of group blocks, rates, and billing instructions in the Property Management System (PMS).
  • Participate in pre-convention meetings and support on-site group arrival experiences when necessary.
  • Generate group-related reports including pick-up reports, pace reports, displacement analyses and any additional reports daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as required
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the Reservations department and ensure all service standards are followed
  • Coordinate VIP and special group arrangements with Front Office and Housekeeping.
  • Ensure group blocks comply with hotel policies regarding cut-off dates, attrition clauses, and billing requirements.
  • Attend Revenue and Group Resume Meetings as required.
  • Maximize revenues by ensuring all Reservation Agents are knowledgeable in room product and hotel services
  • Ensure effective productivity of all Colleagues through staff scheduling and adhering to budget guidelines
  • Balance operational, administrative and Colleague needs
  • Conduct regular departmental meetings to maintain team alignment and performance.
  • Assist guests regarding hotel facilities in an informative and helpful way
  • Follow department policies, procedures and service standards
  • Follow all safety policies 
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Previous hotel experience is required
  • Previous leadership experience in a similar role required
  • Previous experience with a Property Management system required
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required
  • University/College degree in a related discipline preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

Physical Demands

This position requires:

  • Frequent sitting throughout shift
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, walking and standing
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Hotel Management or Business preferred
  • Hospitality industry experience
