Assistant Financial Controller / Finance Officer - Short Term Contract (5 months)

We are seeking an Assistant Financial Controller / Finance Officer for a short-term contract (5 months) position in Brisbane City, Australia. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join our finance team and contribute to the financial management of our organization during a critical period.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Support the development and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts
- Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and regulations
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve financial processes and controls
- Prepare financial reports for management and external stakeholders
- Assist in managing cash flow and treasury operations
- Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors as needed
- Contribute to special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis as required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or CA certification preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in financial management or accounting
- Proficiency with SUN systems and Opera
- Proficiency with rostering, payroll and purchasing systems (Ready Workforce and Purchase Plus preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling
- Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations
- Experience in month-end and year-end closing processes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Familiarity with Australian financial regulations and compliance requirements
