Job Description

ASSISTANT RESTAURANT MANAGER

The Assistant Restaurant Manager will work within the Hotel’s Food & Beverage outlets, which includes the management and service delivery of the restaurants: Q at the Empress, Q Bar, Veranda, and Lobby Lounge, as well as the In-Room Dining, on rotational basis. The successful candidate must be dynamic, enthusiastic and passionate about luxury hospitality.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Outlet Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide on-the-floor supervision and support to employees and coach and develop them to ensure standards are being maintained
  • Have a good understanding of day-to-day expectations, tasks and operations as well as forethought to upcoming events
  • Review guest comments, respond to any concerns in a timely and professional fashion
  • Ensure that service essentials, steps of service and brand standards are being followed by the team
  • Consistently offer professional, engaging and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues
  • Motivate, lead, coach and manage all aspects of team members’ performance towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee engagement results
  • Support Food and Beverage training as required and follow-up training programs to address any additional needs
  • Assist with conducting shift briefings and departmental meetings ensuring that colleagues are well informed and prepared to deliver outstanding service
  • Ensure that the overall cleanliness and safety of the outlets are maintained
  • Develop and maintain close and effective working relationships with all supporting departments
  • Follow and ensure compliance with all corporate, hotel and departmental policies and procedures
  • Participate in hotel committees
  • Strict adherence to all Health & Safety training, guidelines and work practices previous, during and following an epidemic (whether local or global) that are established by Accor, and local government.
  • Perform any other duties, tasks, and assignments within your department as required.

 


Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Must have minimum 1-2 years previous supervisory or management experience in Food & Beverage; preferably in a full service upscale hotel or upscale restaurant
  • Previous experience in a similar leadership role is an asset
  • Service focused personality is essential and a passion for everything food and beverage
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities and demonstrates the ability to lead by example
  • Wine knowledge at or above WSET Level 2 an asset
  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality/Hotel Administration an asset
  • Must have valid Serving it Right Certification and FoodSafe Level One
  • Schedule flexibility, including early mornings, late nights, weekends and all holidays

    Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
