Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Supervises and trains all Housekeeping staff reporting to him/her.
  • Conducts regular inspection of all areas of responsibility to make sure instructions are carried out, comes up with expected results and ensures accepted standard of cleanliness, maintenance and sanitation.
  • Maintains discipline and high morale among staff. Corrects mistakes or inadequacies of the same and recommend disciplinary action to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Monitors the staff performance and reflects comments in the performance track sheet. Evaluates staff on a yearly basis.
  • Provides friendly and helpful assistance to all personnel assigned to him/her and sees to it that they carry out their duties and responsibilities properly.
  • Promptly reports to the Linen Room or Engineering Department any problems or defects in his/ her area for proper action.
  • Attends to complaints and requests concerning area of responsibility and takes corrective action.
  • Immediately reports any loss or damage to hotel property, as well as unusual incidents occurring during his/ her shift to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Trains staff on the proper use of all cleaning solutions and machines.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of all cleaning tools/ machines and records defects/ breakdown of the same.
  • Monitors usage of all cleaning supplies to avoid wastage and cut on unnecessary expenses.
  • Ensures that staff follows correct safety procedures.
  • Checks staff for proper grooming, clean uniforms and use of nametags while on duty. Sees to it that they abide by the rules and regulations of the hotel and following implementation of emergency procedures as the need arises.
  • Records daily activities and events, complaints/problems encountered, unfinished assignments for follow- up and other abnormal activities during his/ her shift.
  • Submits monthly reports.
  • Performs duties common to all supervisors and other related duties that may be assigned.
  • Identifies and receives agreement on how to maintain various methods and/or processes to achieve constructive communications:
  • Weekly meeting with the Executive Housekeeper and Supervisors
  • Regularly schedules supervisors/team leader meetings.
  • Attractive and up-to-date posting area for memos, announcements, etc.
  • Preparation, approval by Executive Housekeeper and posting of weekly schedule
  • Implements and maintains controls and procedures to ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance are achieved.
  • Daily walk around, documented inspections of guest rooms, public areas and support facilities with the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Thorough supervisor/ housekeeper training and review process.
  • Comprehensive work order program to ensure that:
      • Work orders are written
      • Catalogued and followed up
      • Follow up with Engineering pending maintenance/defects, or for reasons for lack of completion
  • Builds and maintains an employee relations program that will both meet the employees’ needs and the company’s goals.
  • Establishes and maintains a daily “morning meeting” to greet and update the staff and to inspect uniform cleanliness and compliance.
  • Develops and implements an incentive program to acknowledge a positive guest comment for a specific employee.
  • Implements and maintains a system to recognize individuals’ birthdays.
  • Identifies and uses an approved system for “on call” status, requested time off and other special requests.
  • Ensures that all personnel appraisal forms are completed presented and returned to HR at least two weeks prior to the review date.
  • Ensures that coaching and counseling (warning letters) are completed on a timely and consistent basis, especially when the policies of the hotel have been violated.
  • Participate in periodic inventories, annual budgeting process
  • Ensures that assigned areas are properly cleaned daily
    • Works closely with and gain a working knowledge of Front Office, Accounting and necessary aspects of F&B and Engineering departments.
    • Consistently inspects assigned areas and turns in inspection reports.
    • Ensures that all reports are prepared completely and promptly.
    • Ensures that an effective and complete training program is in use that all employees are well trained and retrained, as needed.
    • Ensures that SOP are available, current and in effect.
    • Ensures that proper key controls are in effect.
    • Controls overtime through proper scheduling and immediate response to problems.
    • Review operating statements and critique overages and shortages. All efforts must be made to meet budgeted goals.
  • Audits schedules
  • Ensures that all associates are hygienically clean with clean, complete uniforms.
  • Reviews out of order rooms daily.
  • Provides up-to-date job rooms daily.
  • Immediate response to all problems and despondence
  • Ensures that lost and found articles properly and that the correct logs are maintained.
  • Maintains division goals in relation to accident prevention, safety and fire prevention and associate awareness.
  • Works closely with Engineering department to insure that the rooms and equipment preventive maintenance procedure is in effect and consistently carried out.
  • Must be flexible to work third shift from 23:00 pm to 07:00 am, wherever necessary, or as scheduled.
  • Responsible for supervising the activities of Housekeeping staff assigned to him/her to ensure smooth and efficient flow of work in their respective areas. The Asst. Housekeeping Manager is a key individual in achieving the goals and quality standards of the Housekeeping department and must impact all elements of the department from standards of cleanliness and employees morale to budgetary goals and inter- departmental relations.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience / Kiến thức và Kinh nghiệm

  • Education: Bachelor's degree, College diploma, or Intermediate vocational certificate in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a similar role within the Housekeeping department at 4 or 5-star international hotels/resorts.
  • Operations: Deep knowledge of Housekeeping operations, laundry procedures, chemical usage, and room/public area inspection standards.
  • Systems: Proficient in property management systems (Opera PMS/Cloud) and inventory management tools.
  • Regulations: Strong understanding of workplace safety, hygiene regulations, and chemical handling standards (MSDS).
