Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Stewarding Executive to join our organization in Chennai, India. In this pivotal role, you will lead and manage all stewarding operations, ensuring exceptional standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and equipment maintenance. You will supervise a dedicated team, coordinate with multiple departments, and drive operational excellence through strategic planning, staff development, and efficient resource management.   • Assign specific duties to all stewarding team members under your supervision, including external contracted employees, and provide clear instructions on work expectations and standards
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive work schedules using computerized scheduling systems, ensuring adequate coverage while managing overtime and vacation requests efficiently
  • Prepare and submit weekly payroll reports and overtime documentation to senior management for timely approval and processing
  • Monitor and maintain personal cleanliness standards and professional deportment of all team members, fostering a culture of accountability and pride in work
  • Conduct regular training sessions and meetings with team members, training managers, and chemical suppliers to ensure continuous skill development and knowledge sharing
  • Prepare and manage operating equipment budgets for glassware, silverware, and chinaware, tracking breakage and theft with detailed documentation
  • Identify and report non-usable products to management, maintain accurate breakage records, and ensure par levels of equipment are consistently updated
  • Coordinate with restaurant managers to maintain outlet par stocks and prepare comprehensive breakage reports for each section
  • Develop detailed expense forecasts for payroll, cleaning supplies, energy costs, and other operational expenses during the annual budgeting cycle
  • Ensure strict compliance with local health and sanitation codes, conducting regular inspections and implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Maintain vendor and supplier relationships, including contracts for garbage disposal, chemical supplies, pest control, and specialized cleaning services
  • Support the People & Culture Department in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting full-time and part-time stewarding staff
  • Oversee new hire onboarding and ensure all required training programs are completed within three months of employment
  • Provide comprehensive training to team members and casual labor on all aspects of stewarding operations according to departmental standards
  • Observe, coach, motivate, and counsel team members; conduct performance reviews and implement disciplinary actions when necessary
  • Maintain department communication logs and keep notice boards updated with relevant information and announcements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent secondary education
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in stewarding operations or a similar supervisory capacity
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and oral communication in English
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities with meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficiency with computerized scheduling software and Microsoft Office applications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation protocols, and health code compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, prepare budgets, and manage expenses effectively
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a proactive approach to challenges
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Experience in vendor and supplier management and contract negotiation
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing operational demands
