Job Description

The Senior Security Officer demonstrates safety and security measures that meet the requirement of the Hotel Management. The Senior Security Officer is to protect company’s assets relative to theft, assault, fire and other safety issues. They are also responsible for the security, safety and well-being of guests, employees and premises, also supervises junior officers, leads emergency response (fire, medical) investigates incidents and acts as a liaison with authorities, blending high level security with hospitality by managing threats discreetly while maintaining a welcoming guest experience.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manages the Control Room and daily routine assignments by Security Executive (SE) Security Manager (SM).
  • May act as a shift supervisor and ensures adherence to hotel security policies
  • Manages entry and exit points, issues passes and secure restricted areas.
  • Provides security assistance, manages conflict, handles intoxicated guests and maintains a professional hospital demeanor.
  • • Safeguards hotel property, information and valuables, sometimes escorting cash or sensitive documents.
  • Investigates theft, accidents, complaints, documents all incidents through in logs and reports.
  • Visitors/Guests/Contractors Management. To verify all visitors, guests and contractors of their visit and to issue pass to them after verifications.
  • Key Management – To record and issue departmental keys to the colleagues after verification. To acknowledge and record when the keys are returned.
  • To report and document all incidents in the Security Management Occurrence log.
  • To answer to all telephone enquiries in a clam and professionally manner.
  • To record and take pictures of all Loss and Found Items surrender by colleagues or others in the “Case Property” form and thereafter to hand over to Housekeeping if there is no claimant.
  • To respond to fire alarm activation and activate CERT members, DECAM (Decentralized Alarm Monitoring Station), Hotel Telephone Operator and raise the Fire Alarm Bell Activation Report thereafter.
  • To assist in evacuation when the need arises
  • To assist in managing the Electronic Parking System for the Carpark, including printing the Daily Revenue Report (TBC) and Settlement Report (TBC) daily.
  • Any other duties assigned by the /Security Executive (SE) Security Manager (SM).
  • Prepare to assume the role of a CERT member when the need arises.
  • Main Entrance – Assist guest luggage’s / Traffic Control / Meet and Greet guest at lobby.

Carries out static duties

  • Front Office – To ensure a peaceful environment, greet guest coming / going out of the hotel, to report and take action if there are disturbance.
  • Main Driveway – Ensure orderly traffic flow, advice drivers of unauthorized parking to park at designated car park and to report and take action if there is disturbance.
  • To conduct checks on unauthorized parking, advise driver to park at designated car parks, to report and take action if there is disturbance.
  • Loading Bay – To ensure only authorized vehicles are allowed to park in the loading bay.
    • To ensure smooth traffic movements in the loading bay.
    • To ensure the vehicles are parked in an assigned parking lot.
    • To ensure no obstruction cause to other vehicles using the loading bay.
    • To verify the identities of all contractors/workers using the loading bay.
  • To respond to any emergencies within 3 minutes or less.

Patrols hotel grounds and building

  • Monitors CCTV, conduct patrols (guest floors, entrances. sensitive areas) and identifies/reports suspicious activity.
  • Hotel patrolling for crime prevention and report of any incidents, disputes disturbances or properties left unattended.
  • Perimeter patrolling to ensure that the hotel`s exterior walls are not vandalized or damaged, ensure street lamps are in working condition and Articles/Bags left unattended.
  • To respond to any emergencies within 3 minutes or less.
  • Night Duties – Conduct Floor Cheeks to ensure guest room doors fully lock. / No Suspicious person or Loitering with intend.

Qualifications

  • Must be a registered Security Officer with PLRD and holds a valid Security License issued by PLRD.
  • Secondary education with all the mandatory WSQ Certification in Security Operations.
  • Certified in First Aid, CPR and AED.
  • Certified CERT member as per SCDF guidelines under High Risks Installation (HRI) Tier 1
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the hotel industry preferred
  • Outgoing personality and able to remain calm under duress.
  • Willing to acquire new knowledge and experience.

Additional Information

  • Oral and written fluency in English. Ability to converse in other languages is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word) will be an advantage.
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Service oriented with an eye for details and inquisitive mind.
  • Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team.
  • Flexible and able to embrace and respond to change effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and has good initiative under dynamic environment
  • Self-motivated and energetic.
  • Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
