Job Description

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance & Payroll Officer to join our team in a fast-paced luxury hotel environment. This is a key role responsible for the end-to-end management of payroll, while also supporting core finance operations across the business.

You will work closely with department leaders and senior stakeholders, acting as the go-to person for payroll-related matters. With a proactive and solutions-focused mindset, you will not only ensure accuracy and compliance, but also identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and mitigate risk.

What you’ll be doing...

  • Managing end-to-end weekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with relevant legislation
  • Maintaining payroll system integrity, including employee data, award interpretation, and system configuration
  • Interpreting and applying the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020 across varying rosters, employment types, and penalty structures
  • Partnering with Heads of Department to ensure accurate timekeeping, roster inputs, and approvals
  • Acting as the first point of contact for payroll-related queries and providing guidance to stakeholders across the business
  • Managing superannuation, payroll tax, PAYG, and other statutory obligations
  • Preparing payroll reports, variance analysis, and labour cost insights to support decision-making
  • Supporting month-end and year-end financial processes, including reconciliations and reporting
  • Assisting with accounts payable, receivable, and general finance tasks as required
  • Maintaining strong internal controls and proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies or risks
  • Supporting internal and external audit requirements related to payroll and finance
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including system enhancements and process optimisation

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar payroll and/or finance role, ideally within hospitality or a fast-paced environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including Fair Work and ATO requirements
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting modern awards, ideally the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020
  • Availability to work on public holidays when required to support payroll processing
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and accountability
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and collaborating across multiple departments
  • A proactive, analytical, and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving
  • Strong systems skills, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new platforms
  • Experience with WageEasy and Humanforce is preferred but not essential
  • Experience with Opera and Micros, or similar hospitality systems, is advantageous

Additional Information

What’s in it for you...

  • Great benefits – worldwide accommodation and food & beverage discounts from day one, Chadstone Shopping Centre discounts, free nights’ accommodation on your anniversary with Accor, discounted health insurance, and a free, confidential Employee Assistance Program
  • A supportive, dynamic team environment in one of Melbourne’s most iconic luxury hotels
  • Work close to home – based in Melbourne’s vibrant south-east, avoid the CBD commute
  • Endless growth opportunities as part of Accor, Australia’s largest hospitality employer – with access to industry-leading training, career pathways across a global network, and the ability to truly shape your future
