Account Director - Meeting & Events

We have a rare and exciting opportunity within our Sales & Marketing team at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth. Hosting numerous events of all types, Sofitel Sydney Wentworth houses multiple event spaces, and a grand ballroom, with exciting, new restaurant and bar outlets to open in Spring 2024.

Reporting to the Director of Conference and Events, our full-time Account Director - Meeting & Events role will play an integral part in maximising market position of the hotel. The day to day responsibilities will include:

• Meeting hotel targets as outlined in the sales and marketing strategy and hotel strategy and budget documents
• Management of an agreed portfolio of accounts
• Submit reports on sales activities, competitor information market trends and any new opportunities as required
• Providing market intelligence on a regular basis and understanding of competitor strengths weaknesses
• Identify new business opportunities
• Conduct research to uncover opportunities, focusing particularly on “desirable business” and/or “need periods”
• Research new business for Sofitel Sydney Wentworth with focus on lead generation and conversion

• Has the aptitude and willingness to undertake further development with Sofitel.
• Demonstrated passion for events and sales
• Previous experience in reactive and/or proactive sales in hospitality industry
• Previous experience in or in depth knowledge of conference and events market
• Previous experience in managing customer relationships
• Exceptional communication skills
• Demonstrated understanding of the sales process for large events
• Ability to manage competing deadlines to achieve results
