Job Description

The Director of Engineering is responsible for ensuring that all hotel equipment is properly serviced and functional, that the hotel grounds and facilities are maintained, and that training is provided for each department as to the proper operation and maintenance of departmental equipment.  The hotel will be maintained to meet codes of local enforcement agencies.

Compensation: $180,000 - $185,000 annual salary

  • Coordinate all Engineering staff scheduling
  • Create and adhere to annual budget for department
  • Develop and implement plans to keep property, equipment, and grounds in an acceptable state of repair
  • Create and implement preventive maintenance program for all hotel equipment
  • Coordinate periodic inspection of all safety systems
  • Assist with safety program and be an active member of the Health & Safety Committee
  • Ensure that room maintenance requests are handled in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Follow up on all alarms immediately to determine the exact location and cause 
  • Determine emergency status and report findings to the front desk and take immediate action as necessary
  • Design construction and repair projects
  • Write RFP’s and prepare project packages

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field; or a 2 year college degree and 3 or more years of related experience; or a 4 year college degree and one or more years of related experience
  • Previous supervisory responsibility required
  • Stationary Engineer’s license or other trade license as required by local regulations
  • All FDNY required certifications
  • Knowledge of DOB compliance
  • Union environment experience
