Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis 1 to join our culinary team at Swissotel Corniche Park Towers in Doha, Qatar. As a Commis 1, you will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen operations and contributing to the overall success of our dining experience.

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients and mise en place for daily kitchen operations
  • Follow recipes and cooking techniques as directed by senior kitchen staff
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Collaborate with other kitchen team members to ensure smooth service delivery
  • Support Chef de Partie in various kitchen tasks and food preparation
  • Assist in the proper storage and labeling of food items
  • Participate in kitchen cleaning and maintenance routines
  • Contribute to menu development and suggest improvements when appropriate
  • Adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently during peak hours
  • Continuously learn and develop culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Commis or in a similar entry-level culinary role, preferably in a 5-star hotel setting
  • Basic culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques
  • Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and HACCP guidelines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Passion for food and commitment to delivering high-quality cuisine
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Goal-oriented mindset with a desire to grow in the culinary field
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff
  • Basic English language proficiency
  • Valid work visa for Qatar or eligibility to obtain one
